Capt Henry Haynes R.N.

Biography

Henry Haynes late of the City of Bath, Captain in the R.N., named as one of the proprietors of the Friar's Hill estate in Antigua between 1821 and 1832. In 1817 the estate had been described as belonging to the heirs of Thomas Oliver. The naming practices for Henry Haynes children reflect his marriage to Harriet Watkins, a daughter of Thomas Oliver erstwhile Lt-Governor of Massachusetts.

  1. Will of Henry Haynes late of the City of Bath, Captain in the R.N (made 1835) proved 17/02/1838. Under the will he left his holding in 'French funds' to be divided between his son Freeman Oliver Haynes and daughter Thomasina Oliver Haynes, with his residual estate including Railway Shares going to his son. One of his executors was Marmaduke Robinson (q.v.).
