Col. Francis Bell Grant

Biography

Slave-owner on Barbados who reportedly lived in England, where no trace of him has been found to date, although his son also Francis Bell Grant (1811-1888) (q.v.) is visible there. Father also of John Glasgow Grant (q.v.).

  1. Listed in Levy Book for St Joseph, 1793, as owning 109 enslaved. Also owned 1 windmill. In the 1817 Slave Register for Barbados, Francis Bell Grant registered 51 enslaved Africans, with no estate given.
