1817 - 1861
First husband of Mary Anne Broome (nee Stewart) (q.v.). Educated at R.M.A. Woolwich he entered the Royal Artillery in 1834. He served in the Crimea and during the Indian Rebellion of 1857/58, as Brigadier Commanding the Royal Artillery in Bengal during the capture of Lucknow and also Birwa. He died at Simla in 1861 of chronic dysentery and disease of the liver.
