Biography

Owner of Mill Hill and Gardeners on Antigua, which he probably gained through his marriage to Rachell Parson (nee Yeamans) whose third husband he was.

  1. Will of Lockhart Russell Major of Southampton [made in 1797] proved 13/02/1798. Under the will he left his [unnamed] estates in Antigua in trust for his wife Rachel Russell for life and then to Francis Russell of Black Hall North Britain, later in the will identified as Lockhart Russell's nephew, requesting that the survivor of the two then bestow them upon Francis' son, also called Lockhart Russell. Major Lockhart Russell added to the property that he had already settled under the marriage settlement an annuity of £100 p.a. to Mary, the wife of Francis Russell, and left further annuities totalling £215 p.a. to female family members and a male servant.

  2. Captain Lockhart Russell was sent by the Bengal Presidency of the East India Co. to spy on the French development of Ile de France in the early 1770s.
