Andrew Geddes, farmer in Moray, Scotland. Brother of John Geddes who owned Elgin estate in Manchester, Jamaica.
Likely the Andrew Geddes, son of Andrew Geddes and Katharine nee Duffus, baptised in Bellie, Moray in 1763.
Andrew Geddes, age 75, farmer, was living at Burnside, near Elgin with his wife Margaret nee Duffus and children James age 40 and Ann age 30 and Mary Keith age 15.
Andrew Geddes, farmer of Bruceland, near Elgin, died 07/11/1850 aged Andrew Geddes of the parish of Brucelands, Elgin, age 87 years. He was buried at Bellie, Moray, 11/11/1850.
In his will he says he is a farmer of Shankerry in the parish of Elgin and states "But specially excepting from the before general and special conveyance of my means and estate whatever sum or money I may be found entitled to as nearest next of kin of my deceased brother John Geddes, sometime of the Island of Jamaica as to which, I have already executed a deed in favour of the executors therein named for the recovery and division of what they may realize of the estate of my said brother failing to me." Geddes's reasoning was that he was his brother John's next of kin and entitled to his estate, although John wrote a will leaving his property to his three reputed children.
