Biography

Slave-owner in Demerara, born into a St Kitts family, dying before 1817 and shown as former owner of Concordia in Demerara between 1817 and 1832, father of George James Clifton and father-in-law of Claude Neilson (q.v.).

  1. Charles Clifton's nephew Marshall Waller Clifton (1787-1861), the son of his brother Rev. Francis Clifton, was an early settler in Western Australia and has an entry in the Australian Dictionary of Biography as 'civil servant, colonizer and colonial politician'.
