In 1851 George J Clifton aged 47 wine merchant born West Indies was living at 13 Waverley Place St Johns Wood with wife Mary aged 45 born Kennington and two sons in their early 20s, born Kennington and Middlesex. In 1861 the couple were still at the same address, he born Demerara, with two children, Eliza and Geo. H.
By 1854, George James Clifton was bankrupt. No probate details have yet been found; genealogical material on Ancestry.com gives his date of death as 1867.
