John Rutherford

1748 - 1816


Biography

Apparently resident slave-owner in Jamaica, owner of Sue River which passed in some form to his wife Jane Rutherford 1816.

  1. John Rutherford of the parish of Kingston, merchant, married Jane McGuffog of the same place, spinster, in St Andrew 18/11/1786.

  2. Death of John Rutherford reported in the Jamaica Royal Gazette in 1816 age 68.

  3. Possibly the same person as John Rutherton (q.v.). The John Rutherford of Westmorland whose will was made in 1819 and proved 31/05/1820 must have been a different man.
