"JOHN HOTHERSAL PINDER of Ayshford, St. John, Barbados, was born about the year 1768. Married Thomasin, daughter of Robert Haynes, who was Speaker of the Assembly in Barbados (from whom she had a marriage portion of £7,000). He was Major in Barbados Militia, and also Member of General Assembly for St. John 1803-1820. He went to reside in England, and died suddenly while at Service at All Saints Chapel Bath, Sunday 11th March 1821. Monument to him in Walcot Church, Bath. See Carib. I 124. His widow married Lt. Col. Christian F. Lardy at St George, Barbados on 4th December 1823."
Memorial in St Swithin's Church, Walcot, Bath: TO THE MEMORY OF JOHN HATHERSALL PINDER ESQUIRE, OF THE ISLAND OF BARBADOS IN THE WEST INDIES, WHO DIED SUDDENLY WHILE ATTENDING THE PERFORMANCE OF DIVINE SERVICE IN THE CHAPEL OF ALL SAINTS IN THIS PARISH, ON SUNDAY THE 11TH DAY OF MARCH 1821. THIS MONUMENT IS ERECTED BY HIS AFFLICTED WIDOW THOMASIN PINDER.
John Hathersall Pinder, age 45 [sic?], of Milsom Street, Bath, buried at St Swithin's Church, 16/03/1821.
Will of John Hothersall Pinder late of the island of Barbados but at present of Bath Somerset proved 27/03/1821. (Administration was granted in 1881 to the Rev. North Pinder, personal estate under £1500). In the will, John Hothersall Pinder left his wife an annuity of £150 currency p.a. in addition to the £600 p.a. to which she was already entitled, explaining that since he had sold his estate to William Matson Barrow he could not provide her with a mansion house in which to live.
