???? - 1769
Husband of Jane Isabella or Isabelle Gale, the daughter of Isaac Gale of St Elizabeth (q.v.).
Will of John Fisher of Greenwich Kent [made 01/8/1767] proved 23/02/1769. Under the will he left his estates in England and Jamaica in trust (his trustees included his nephew John Fisher Weare and Thomas Farr), with the profits to be divided one-third to his 'present wife' Jane Isabella and two-thirds to his sons James and John.
Although The Environs of London shows a memorial to 'John Fisher' d. 1791 as the son of John Fisher d. 1769 and his wife Mary nee Creed, this appears erroneous. The memorial appears more likely to refer to James Fisher of Lincolns Inn, whose will, proved 26/10/1791, shows his brother as John to whom he left his estates in Jamaica: James Fisher's trustees include John Fisher Weare as well as Robert Campbell (q.v.), both known to be connected with the family of John Fisher of Greenwich and of the John Fisher in the compensation records, the father of Rev. John Campbell Fisher. The will of John Fisher of the compensation records (the father of John Campbell Fisher) was proved in 1839: our conclusion is that this man in the compensation records was the son of John Fisher of Greenwich (d. 1769).
John Fisher of Britain, Esquire. Estate probated in Jamaica in 1770. Slave-ownership at probate: 306 of whom 172 were listed as male and 134 as female. 82 were listed as boys, girls or children. Estate valuation included £0 currency cash, £0 currency debts and £0 currency plate.
PROB 11/995/440.
