Biography

George Gordon 'of Tockington' was identified in the marriage settlement of John Gordon of Wincombe Park as one of the trustees; in the will of John Gordon, his executors were his brother George Gordon and his wife Maria, who claimed the compensation for the Glasgow estate. Tockington is close to Olverston in south Gloucestershire, leading to the conclusion that the will below is of the same man.

  1. The will of George Gordon of Oakleaze [sp?] in the parish of Olverston was proved 19/04/1843. In his will he was concerned mainly with the 1837 marriage settlement of his daughter, leaving his son Charles William Gordon as residuary heir. There is no mention of property in Jamaica or elsewhere in the Caribbean.
