Sarah Jackson then McConnell (née Booth)

Biography

Very likely to be the Sarah Booth born 27/12/1777 and baptised in Trelawny, 25/03/1780, daughter of Kemble and Ann Booth.

Sarah Booth married Henry Jackson in Trelawny, 19/09/1793. They had three sons baptised in Trelawny in 1799: John (later with the middle name Graves or Greaves, born 1795), Kembel (appears as Hempbell in the parish register transcription, later with the middle name Booth, born 1797) and Henry (born 1799).

Sarah Jackson was a widow when she remarried, to David McConnell, in Trelawny, 26/04/1808. They had two children baptised in Trelawny in 1812: Thomas (born 1809) and Sarah Jane (or Jean, born 1811). This was David McConnell's second marriage too. He had previously had three daughters with Ann nee Crew: Mary Ann (born 1791), Ann (born 1795) and Jean Holmes (born 1796).

The will of Sarah McConnell was proved 27/05/1815 and appointed guardians Sarah Jane and Thomas - John Mitchell, Jonathon Brown, Catherine Wilkings and Mary Jane Hawkins.

Recess estate in Trelawny, Jamaica, was registered to the heirs of Mrs McConnell in 1815 and thereafter to her children Thomas and Sarah as trust beneficiaries.
