???? - 1814
Elizabeth Carroll was the owner of the Oxford and Spring Garden estates in Jamaica inherited from her father James Carroll in 1753. The Chancery case of Susannah Hyde Beckford v Kemble and others in 1822 covered the 1763 marriage settlement and subsequent mortgage (to Richard Beckford and Rice James) by Nathaniel and Elizabeth Beckford of estates in Jamaica. The estates were unnamed but from other evidence included Spring Garden and Oxford, both in St Thomas-in-the-East.
PROB 11/829/386; Reports of Cases Decided in the High Court of Chancery by Sir John Leach Vol. I 1822 1823 1824 (London, 1824) pp. 7-16. This account of the case shows the marriage settlement as of 1768 whereas the Accounts Produce show the change from Elizabeth Carroll to Elizabeth Beckford in 1763.
