Biography

Slave-owner in Jamaica, owner of Chesterfield in Westmoreland, dead by 1755. His co-heirs according to genealogical sites were his nieces Ann and Letitia Cunningham, daughters of Francis Cunningham of Co. Donegal in Ireland.

James Cunningham was listed in the Jamaican Quit Rent books for 1754 as the owner of 1635 acres of land in St Elizabeth.

Dawkins and Cunningham were listed in the Jamaican Quit Rent books for 1754 as the owners of 500 acres of land in St Elizabeth. This may refer to James Dawkins, James Dawkins the younger or Henry Dawkins II. Cunningham and Wallace, deceased were listed in the Jamaican Quit Rent books for 1754 as the owners of 1180 acres of land in Westmoreland. The Cunningham may be James Cunningham of Chesterfield or perhaps one of the Cunninghames of Grandvale.
