26th Jan 1804 - ????
William Thomas March, son of Mary Luisa Willis Thomas Matthews, born 26/01/1804 and baptised in St Catherine, Jamaica, 17/06/1804, and almost certainly a free man of colour. A member of the House of Assembly, later Secretary of Jamaica and a naturalist.
Assumed to be one of the ten children of Mary Louisa Willis Thomas Matthews, 'free mestee'. Baptism records have been found for three of the children, but they are all listed as slave-owners in St Catherine. Most of the children spent at least some time as absentees in their childhoods, presumably in Britain.
