Biography

Man of colour, an Anglican clergyman educated at Oxford. Jasper Baillie, 'the supposed son of David Baillie Esq., Attorney at Law, & Anna Lewis a free brown woman', born 09/04/1791 and baptised 25/06/1802 in St Andrew. Louisa Baillie and Henrietta Baillie, children of Susanna Lewis 'a brown woman' by David Baillie, born 02/02/1793 and 03/03/1795 respectively, had been baptised in Kingston 09/05/1796.

  1. Jasper Farmer Baillie, son of David Baillie of Jamaica, matriculated Brasenose Oxford 09/05/1812 aged 19, and became an Anglican clergyman, dying in London formerly of Fairford Gloucestershire in 1866, leaving £6000. In 1861 he had been a lodger at Elm House, Newchurch Ryde, Isle of Wight aged 70, born Jamaica, clergyman without cure of souls.
