Samuel Redhead

???? - 1785

Biography

  1. Will of Samuel Redhead of [Antigua but now residing in the City of London] proved 06/04/1785. In the will he left his household possessions in Britain and Antigua to Sarah Bullock, then residing with him in London, and his house on Long Street in St John Antigua to his two natural sons with Sarah Bullock, Joseph and Henry Redhead [he also had two daughters with her, Jane Comyns and Sarah Ann Redhead]. He left two enslaved brothers, Stephen and John, to Joseph and Henry respectively. He left his [unnamed] estates in trust for his son George [his son Nathaniel having predeceased him] under entail, then to George's eldest son Samuel and his heirs, then to George's second son George.

  2. The Henry Redhead in Samuel Redhead's will is almost certainly Henry Redhead Yorke, who has an entry in the ODNB as 'political writer.' This is supported by the research of Amanda Goodrich on Henry Redhead Yorke.
