Andrew Bogle was an enslaved man on the Hope estate of the Duke of Buckingham and Chandos who in the 1826 Slave Register was shown aged 25 'taken off the country by Edw. Tichborne Esq.' In England he acted as valet to Edward Tichborne later Doughty (and later still Sir Edward Doughty) at Upton House Poole, married twice, and then moved to Australia. He figured in the controversy over the 'Tichborne Claimant.'
