Biography

Son, co-heir and executor of Thomas Mackenzie or McKenzie (q.v.). He was active as an attorney in Jamaica in the 1820s, apparently dying at sea c. 1832.

The family is tied together by two inscriptions recorded in St Giles the Abbot's churchyard, Cheadle: (1) Thomas MacKENZIE, Of Stokesfield, Jamaica, 2nd s/o Rev Murdoch MacKENZIE of Inverness, who died at Oakhill, Tean, 18 Feb 1822, 67; John, eldest s, died at sea, 1832, 41; Mary Child MacKENZIE his wife, 27 July 1855, 59; Madeline their d, 31 Jan 1910, 80; (2) Thomas MacKENZIE MD, Of Newcastle under Lyme, 8 March 1849, 55 Elizabeth Colclough MacKENZIE, w, 1 Aug 1852, 60 Mary MacKENZIE, 4th d, 23 June 1840, 18 George, 3rd s, 24 Nov 1851, 20.
