Thomas Mackenzie or McKenzie junior

???? - 1849

Biography

Son and co-heir of Thomas Mackenzie or McKenzie (q.v.). He appears to have assigned or sold his share in his father's 'slave-property' to his brother John, since he does not appear in the compensation records. He [the son] was in Britain in the early 1820s and probably thereafter: his father left him and his [the son's] wife Elizabeth Colclough MacKenzie his [the testator's] personalty in England in 1821 and he was shown as Thomas MacKenzie Doctor of Medicine when he proved his father's will in London in 1822. In 1841 Thomas Mackenzie Doctor of Physic aged 45 was living at Stubbs Street Newcastle-under-Lyme with his family. He was almost certainly the Thomas Mackenzie whose death was registered Q1 1849 at Newcastle-under-Lyme. The will of his widow Elizabeth Colclough MacKenzie of Stoke-upon-Trent was proved 14/12/1852.
