Biography
- Will of John Roach of St Michael Barbados proved 24/07/1807. He left his wife Mary Colleton Roach £14,000 in 3% consols and £5000 currency. He left £100 sterling to his kinsman James Roach now residing in Jamaica and £100 currency to his kinsman John Bovell of Speightstown; £1500 currency to his kinsman John William Bovell Doctor of Physick and £1500 also to his [John William Bovell's] brother William Bovell; £500 currency to his godson John Roach Bovell the son of Dr John William Bovell; and further monetary legacies totalling some £2000. He left his residuary estate to his wife Mary Colleton Roach except for his 'negro man slave named Johnny (by trade a cooper)' whom left to his [Johnny's] sister Moll Roach 'free negro woman, formerly my property.'
