Daughter of Grace Mary Whittle (d. 1819) and as such a beneficiary with her siblings in the trust fund which included Peter's Rock and Mount Charles in St Andrew, Jamaica.
Born in County Antrim in 1817. Married George Augustus C. Maccartney in 1847. In the census for 1851 at Killead, Antrim, with husband George, "gentleman attorney", daughter Maria age 1 and twins George A. and Hamilton, age 2 months.
