1750 - 1828
Father of Adam Cameron and son-in-law of Nathaniel Phillips (both of whom q.v.). Founder of the Cameron Highlanders, he has entry in the ODNB as 'army officer'. That entry says simply: 'In London, on 16 September 1779, he married Ann Phillips (1765–1795), whose father, Nathaniel Phillips, was a wealthy Jamaican planter'. Other sources suggest Alan Cameron eloped with her and had been an overseer on her father's plantations.
