Eldest son of Benjamin Lawrence of The Crawl and his wife Mary nee Boon. Presumably inherited The Crawl from his father who died in 1784 (Caribbeana gives both as "of The Crawl").
His uncle George Whitehorne Lawrence bequeathed his estate Running Gut to his wife Margery and thereafter to Benjamin Lawrence III, but Margery outlived Benjamin by two years and the estate was inherited by his young son George Whitehorne Lawrence II.
