Son of Henry Lowe of Goadby Marwood and his wife Elizabeth, daughter of Samuel Long (1638-1683). Educated Christ Church, Oxford. Entered Middle Temple 1711. MP for Aldeburgh 1718-1731. Inherited Seven Plantations in Jamaica on the death of his father in 1714 (the estate had come originally from the Long family). Died unmarried; Seven Plantations passed to his sisters Susanna (later married to Theobald Taaffe) and Elizabeth (married to Samuel Moore, and mother of Sir Henry Moore).

Total value of estate at probate: £14704.16 Jamaican currency of which £8065 currency was the value of enslaved people. Estate valuation included £0 currency cash, £459.35 currency debts and £10 currency plate.
