Daughter of James Samson (q.v.), owner of Smithfield estate in Manchester, Jamaica, and Elizabeth Messum, an enslaved woman who was from at least 1817 to 1820 living on Grimett estate in Vere, Jamaica.
Frances, daughter of James Samson, was "publicly baptised" in Vere 28/12/1806.
Fanny Samson, "mulatto", age 14, creole, daughter of Elizabeth Messum, was enslaved on Grimett estate in Vere in 1817 (as was her mother, age 36, "Negro", creole). Along with her half-siblings Quaco age 1, Ruthy Huggins age 11, Sarah Huggins age 7 and Nancy Lambert age 4, Fanny and Elizabeth were part of a group of 30 enslaved people in the possession of Thomas Samson as lessee to the receiver of the estate of Elisha Clarke Ranger deceased.
Thomas Samson (possibly as executor of James) paid 10 shillings each for the manumission of Quaco, Elizabeth Messum, Ruthy Huggins, Nancy Lambert, Sarah Huggins and Frances Samson, 03/03/1820. Ruthey Grey was manumitted by the will of Thomas Samson (date of probate of the will, 11/05/1824). Fanny Samson, age 20, "mulatto" and Elizabeth Clarke, age 69, "negro", were recorded as having been manumitted by Thomas Samson on Grimett in Vere, 1823.
