Biography

  1. Son of John Hothersall (1654-1694) and his wife Meliora (nee Drax?).
    Not to be confused with his uncle Burch Hothersall, who was born March 1664, entered Merchant Taylors' School, 11 September 1679, MA Oxford 1682, from Emanuel College, Cambridge. Member of Council, Barbados; died about 1698.

  2. Brother and heir of Thomas Hothersall of Giddy Hall (q.v.). His daughter Elizabeth married (as her second husband) Francis Ford of Lears and a second daughter Ann married Harry or Henry Slingsby. Hothersall's indebtedness to the Lascelles family is detailed by Simon D. Smith.

  3. Burch's sister Meliora married Richard Hallett of Stedcombe Manor, himself the descendant of Barbados slave-owners.

  4. There was a Burch Hothersall buried in St John's Church, Croydon, 30/03/1731.
