Biography

Co-claimant as mortgagees with her siblings Thomas Budgen of Nutfield and Lucretia Budgen of the compensation for the enslaved people on The Whim in Nevis, inferred to have been sold under the will of their grandfather Thomas Budgen MP (q.v.) and to have come to the family through their grandmother Penelope Smith. The estate was in receivership and the ultimate destination of the compensation money is not yet known.

  1. Cornelia Penelope Budgen daughter of John Smith Budgen and Lucretia (nee Mills) was baptised 14/11/1769 at St Marylebone, and buried of George Street Bath at Walcot 21/01/1846 aged 60.
