Thomas Porter III

1. Will of Thomas Porter of Erlegh Whiteknights near Reading died 06/01/1897 proved 17/02/1897 effects £252,794 11s 10d. This Thomas Porter, 'Thomas Porter III', was the grandson of Thomas Porter I and the son of Thomas Porter II who received slave compensation and gave his estates to Thomas III in 1845. Thomas III married Charlotte Wolseley of Antigua and was a member of the Court of Policy in the 1840s and 1850s, returning to Britain c. 1860. He sold Rockbeare House in 1859. He funded the Porter Institute, a working mens' club, in Church Road Earley in 1895-6.

2. Thomas Porter III (1814-1897) (Eton, matriculating at Oriel Oxford 09/06/1831 aged 17) was married in George Town Demerara 07/10/1840 to Charlotte Elizabeth, eldest daughter of W.B. Wolseley Esq. Thomas Porter's (1814-97) second surviving son George was rector of Lympstone and Rackenford in Devon, then Littleton Middlesex.
