Slave-owner in Jamaica, owner of Rose Garden in St Thomas-in-the-East, dead by 1803. The registration of the enslaved people on the estate to his heirs at law in the 1810s and 1820s imply he died intestate. One of his heirs - and probably his son - was Rev. Richard Panton (q.v.). Both the Oxford and Cambridge Alumni entries for REv. Richard Panton give the latter's father as Richard Dunavan [sic] Panton.
