Owner of Pembroke estate in Tobago. Father of Robert Mitchell junior.
Tentatively identified also as the Robert Mitchell who purchased Bacolet estate in Tobago from Thomas Walpole 01/07/1789.
He was president of the Council in Tobago in May 1806.
The will of Gilbert Petrie of Tobago, made c. 1805 and proved in 1820, included a trust fund of £12,000 set up for the benefit of the children of his nephew Robert Mitchell.
