Biography

Claimed unsuccessfully for the compensation on Pembroke estate in Tobago as heir at law of his father, Robert Mitchell sen. Apparently resident, registering the enslaved people on Pembroke as attorney to his father in 1820. Robert Mitchell of Tobago, presumably senior, was identified as the nephew of Gilbert Petrie (q.v.) in the latter's will, made c. 1805 but only proved in 1820.

  1. 'At Kensington, Robert Mitchell jun., eldest son of Robert Mitchell Esq. of the Island of Tobago [married] to Fanny youngest daughter of John Madden of Brompton' (1823).
