???? - 1879
Army officer, legatee under his brother George Smith's will made in 1824 of one moiety of an estate in Mauritius called Jacote [sp?] subject to a payment of 20,000 dollars to Mme Contesse Dupuy from the revenue of the estate or immediately from his [the legatee's] purse. His wife was the grand-daughter of Thomas Hankey of Fetcham Park. Online genealogical sources show him as the son of George Smith (d. 1823), Chief Justice of Grenada, then Trinidad and finally of Mauritius; if so his sister Sarah married Robert Campbell Scarlett, 2nd Baron Abinger.
Administration of the will of George Smith of Port Louis, made in 1824 and apparently attested in 1826 in Mauritius, granted 07/08/1832, PROB 11/1804/338.
