London merchant, partner with Andrew Jordaine, and MP for Grampound 1812-1818. They were one of a group of London merchants lending £60,000 in total to Alexander Donaldson in 1803 secured on substantial 'slave-property', mostly mortgages. Shaw was a major City figure, active at Lloyd's and instrumental in the founding of UCL.
