Biography

William Maynard of Christ Church Surrey coal merchant and Ephraim Allen baker were among a group of individuals purchasing, for a total of £15,000, annuities from John Mills secured on the latter's estates and enslaved people on Nevis in 1774, when for £225 they purchased an annuity of £22 10s p.a., for the lives of Jane Randall aged 25 wife of John Randall calico printer of Vine Street, Lambeth Marsh, and of John Randall himself aged 29. Maynard and Allen were possibly trustees of the Randalls.

  1. The will of William Maynard coal merchant of Christ Church Surrey [made in 1790] was proved 20/07/1792. In it he left his business to his wife and son, specifying it be called Sarah Maynard & Son. The will of William Maynard coal merchant of Christ Church Surrey made in 1825 and proved 22/11/1834 was the son.
