Biography

Anglican clergyman, Vicar of Streatham 1843-1904, and beneficiary under the wills of his father Richard Nicholl (q.v.) and uncle John Nicholl of St Vincent (q.v).

  1. John Richard Nicholl, son of Richard of Pendhill Surrey matric. Exeter 15/05/1828 aged 18. BA 1832. MA 1835, rector of Streatham Surrey from 1843.

  2. John Richard Nicholl of the rectory Streatham left £58889 9s 6d on his death in 1905.

  3. Rev. John Richard Nicholl was deeply engaged in the efforts of the Church of England to keep pace with the explosive growth of South London in the second half of the 19th century. He was instrumental in the building of 18 churches including Holy Trinity, Upper Tooting, in Trinity Road Wandsworth (1855) and in the formation of 9 parishes.
