Biography

Son of John Estridge of Brislington (q.v.), from whom he inherited the Bramble or Mountain estate on St Kitts. The estate, along with John Estridge's other legacies, appears to have been overwhelmed by debt.

  1. Aretas Estridge married Ann Mary Wharton Julius, daughter of John Julius (q.v.), at St Augustine-the-Less in Bristol 11/05/1796.

  2. The children included 1st son John Julius (21 May 1799,-23 June 1881) who became a Church of England minister in Stratfteld Turgis, Hampshire (1822-26), in Winterbourne Clenstone, Dorset (1826-45), in Gussage All Saints, Dorset (1833-45) and in Puncknowle, Dorset (1845-81). He died in Puncknowlewest. 2nd son Aretas William (29 October 1804-5 May 1879) who married Catharine Barnstable and died in Bradford-on-Avon.
