Slave-owner on Barbados, dying London in 1816. Son of Barbara Kirton nee Anderson of Tushielaw and Dr Alexander Kirton of Barbados.
Will of John Kirton Anderson gentleman of Walworth proved 20/02/1816. He left all his property to his wife Angel.
John Kirton Anderson had previously had five children with an enslaved woman named Sukey or Susanna Hunt. He manumitted Sukey and transferred to her ownership of their five children and four other enslaved people before leaving Barbados for Scotland with his new wife Angel and his son with Sukey, a boy named John. Sukey subsequently died, leaving all her property, including ownership of her children, to John Kirton Anderson. Anderson was in Glasgow, Scotland, when he signed a deed to manumit all five of his children with Sukey - John, Ann, Barbara, Mary and Sarah - in 1799. John Kirton Anderson was buried at Newington St Mary, London, in 1816 aged 58.
