Biography

Owner of estates in Nevis and Antigua.

  1. Eldest son of Lieut. Col. Randal Russell and his wife Frances nee Keynell. Married Penelope Tyrell in Camberwell, near London, 13/01/1675. Heir to his uncle Sir James Russell, Governor of Nevis 1632-1671. Bequeathed his estates in Nevis and Antigua to his wife and daughters. His second daughter, Frances, married her first cousin Sir William Stapleton, 2nd Bart. His youngest daughter Penelope married Martin Madan.

Sir James Russell knight of Nevis. Sick and weak in body but of perfect sense and memory.

To my daughters Elizabeth Russell, Penelope Russell and Frances Russell one half of my estate in Nevis. The other half to my wife Penelope Russell during her widowhood. Should she remarry, her half to be equally divided between my three daughters.

To my brother Randell Russell £5.

To my three daughters what money I have in the hands of my correspondent or factor in England.

To my daughters one half of my estate in Antigua; the other half to my wife during her widowhood under the same conditions as for my Nevis estate.
