London insurance broker who in February 1773 with his then partner Page Keble advanced £2100 to William Gilchrist (q.v.), the owner of Rutherglen estate and the enslaved people attached to it. The estate and the people were already mortgaged to Neil Malcolm, and Gilchrist issued a bond for £4200 to secure the new advance from Sadleir and Keble by an indenture to which Neil Malcolm was also a party: it is thus unclear whether the loan was secured as a second mortgage. Sadleir was probably the man whose will (in which he was given as of Lewisham) was proved in 1811.
