Glasgow West India merchant, partner in Hamilton, Garden (q.v.) and then senior partner in Francis Garden & Sons (q.v.), which failed c. 1814. Francis Garden & Co. was active from at least 1781; his two sons Alexander and Hamilton W. Garden became partners with him. Alexander Garden, who left the partnership before its failure, was later Provost of Glasgow. No death date has been found for Francis Garden.
