Biography

Brother and heir of Benjamin Crossley (will proved 1822) of St George Parish Jamaica.

  1. Fanny, daughter of Luke Thomas Crossley of Hanketon [sic] Hall near Nantwich in the County of Chester married Rev. George Augustus Salisbury, son of Sir John Salisbury Piozzi Salisbury of Brynbella in County of Flint 1852. Luke Thomas Crossley shown as deceased by 22/12/1857 [A/1691/F/1/6] and his family in Cheltenham. Papers also allude to Olive Mount Estate, Wavertree near Liverpool, auctioned 1859.

  2. 1841 census shows Luke Thomas Crossley at Olive Mount Wavertree; and 1851 aged 63 at Hankelow Hall.

  3. London Gazette shows an insolvent debtor, Joseph Robinson, 'formerly....in partnership with Luke Thomas Crossley, both in Leeds Yorkshire, trading with and carrying on business at School Close and Monkpitts Mills..under the firm Crossley, Robinson and Company, stuff and woolen-printers and dyers' and later a book-keeper in apparently unconnected businesses.
