Awarded the compensation for one award in Nevis with Hester Smith (q.v.) as joint owners and another with her as assignees. Hester Smith appears to have been trading in compensation claims for Nevis.
Christiana and her sister Hester were the daughters of Amelia Brodbelt, a free woman of colour. They had two sisters, Amelia and Jane, and a brother, Francis. Christiana and Hester Smith received an enslaved person each from their mother in 1777. They were still slave-owners until 1834 and also rented out property. Both sisters were dead by 1849.
