Probably the Amelia Smith who was the daughter of a free woman of colour, Amelia Brodbelt, and sister of Hester and Christiana Smith (both q.v.).
Amelia Smith was executrix (and possibly in a relationship with) Revd William Green: "Perhaps they had been in business together; it was said that Revd Green had a rumshop." She also owned enslaved people jointly with the fourth sister, Jane, who died in November 1826. Amelia moved to England by 1827 and was still in London in 1849.
An Amelia Smith, age 71, "fundholder", was living at 12 Claremont Square, Clerkenwell, London, with Mary Husband, age 61, "Annuitant and fundholder", born Jamaica. The head of household was James Hayman and the ladies' relationships to him were given as "Inmate".
