Born Rachel Mardenbrough, daughter of Christopher Mardenbrough of St Kitts and Rhoda Fryers; widow of Robert Claxton (1754-1812), whom she married in St Kitts 1 May 1783. Claxton was devisee of an annuitant for arrears of annuity (the annuitant was [her sister] Sarah Gumbs, by the will of their father Christopher Mardenbrough).
