1789 - 27th Nov 1866
Conservative MP, awarded with his kinsman Sir William Templer Pole (q.v.) the compensation for the enslaved people on Golden Rock and Mills estates on St Kitts as owners-in-fee. Henry Compton, the son of Lucretia Mills and Henry Compton, had been the co-heir of the will of John Mills of Woodford Bridge (q.v.). John Compton, Henry Combe Compton's father, was the brother of the younger Henry Compton, John Mills' co-heir, and inherited his estates on the death of his brother Henry Compton c.1786, shortly after the death of their father.
In 1851 Henry Combe Compton aged 62 Landed Proprietor born near Ringstead was living at the Manor house Min[e]stead with wife Charlotte aged 62 born London and children Henry aged 37, Felisia [sic] aged 32 (born Switzerland) and Berdmore aged 30, barrister in actual practice. In 1861, he was at the same address with sons Henry, Francis (aged 36, 'DCL') and Berdmore aged 40 Rector of Barford Warwicks., and daughters Selina aged 48 born Switzerland and Catharine aged 47. Will of Henry Combe Compton of the Manor House, Minesteed [sic], county of Southampton who died 27/11/1866 proved 26/12/1866 by Henry Compton the son sole executor, effects £60,000.
Henry Combe Compton's wife was Charlotte Mills, daughter of William Mills, MP, of Bisterne Hampshire. William Mills was an East India Co. man, connected only remotely if at all with the Mills family of St Kitts. He had bought Bisterne from John Compton in 1792
