Jonathan Higginson

Liverpool merchant, awarded the compensation as trustee for Richard Dean, the executor of John Higginson (q.v.) for two awards in Barbados and claiming apparently unsuccessfully for a third.

1. Son of John Higginson (1776-1834), merchant of Everton, and Sarah Ann Barrow, born Barbados 30/03/1807 and died at Everton Lancashire 09/01/1859. Married Charlotte Higginson, the second daughter of Richard Haynes of Barbados. Partner in Barton, Irlam and Higginson (q.v.) which failed in 1847.

2. Administration granted to widow Charlotte 08/05/1893 of Jonathan Higginson of Inverleith Road Edinburgh merchant died 06/01/1859 effects £50.

3. 1841 census shows Jonathan Higginson merchant aged 30 living at Bebington Higher Bebington Cheshire with Charlotte (aged 20) and John (2) and Jane (1); in 1851 there is no matching entry for Jonathan Higginson but Charlotte Higginson wife aged 32 born Barbadoes is living at 3 Ellenbys Building Westbury on Trym, Clifton with daughter Charlotte E (9); Emily (7); Arthur (5) and Jonathan (2).  There is a registration of a marriage for Jonathan Higginson Q1 1838 West Derby Lancs.

4. According to the Charterhouse Register 1769 -1872 Higginson was born on 20 February 1807 and died in Edinburgh, 6 January 1859.
