Biography

London solicitor, awarded the compensation for the enslaved people on in St Dorothy Jamaica with others (including his partner David Morice Johnston q.v.) as trustees of the Bayley family (including Rev. W. H. Ricketts Bayley, q.v.).

  1. Will of Thomas Newman Farquhar late of Moorgate street in the City of London and of Sydenham Kent Solicitor who deceased 30/7/1866 proved 1/9/1866, effects in United Kingdom under £45,000.  Buried at South Metropolitan Cemetery (now known as West Norwood Cemetery) aged 57 4/8/1866. Four children baptised at Sydenham between 1844 and 1852 and one at Liverpool in 1841.

  2. Thomas Newman Farquhar was the residuary legatee of one-third of the estate of his uncle James Farquhar, MP and lawyer, who died in 1833 leaving £140,000.
