Merchant of Liverpool, executor and nephew of William Brade, and brother of Daniel Brade (q.v.).

  1. William and James Brade, the uncle and father of the man of this entry, were co-owners of at least 23 slaving voyages from Liverpool, half to Dominica, in the last years of the slave-trade.

PROB 11/1872/37. Will of William Brade merchant of Liverpool proved 08/02/1837 (the will of his uncle William Brade of Everton Lancashire had been proved 04/05/1820, PROB11/1629). The will of the William Brade of this entry had been made 16/11/1835, during Apprenticeship: notwithstanding this, he provided that his 'slaves' sic and plantations should go into trust (for his wife and children).
