Biography

Awarded part of the compensation for enslaved people on Castle Bruce in Dominica after counterclaiming as assignee in trust of one-third of the enslaved people and two debts thereon for 1/3rd of compensation money.

  1. In 1851 Oliver Vile banker was living at 1 St James Square aged 71 with wife Marian (born Bordeaux France), son Thomas 47 'broker stocks', daughters Marian and Eliza aged 42 and 40 respectively. Oliver Vile of Oxford Terrace Hyde Park aged 80 was buried at South Metropolitan Cemetery (now known as West Norwood Cemetery) 03/07/1860. Will of Oliver Vile formerly of Cornhill London afterwards of St James Square but late of 75 Oxford Terrace who died 26/06/1860 proved 13/07/1860, effects under £5000.
